Backed by over $2.4 billion in combined capital, founding members include Castelion, Pacific Fusion, and Zanskar, aiming to shape the state's future business landscape.
Albuquerque, NM — Today marks the official launch of the Next New Mexico Economy Project, a powerhouse coalition of high-growth startups united to champion a competitive, forward-thinking business environment in New Mexico. Representing the next generation of large-scale employers, the coalition’s mission is to accelerate policy and program initiatives that foster rapid business scaling and robust job creation. The group has determined three focus areas for this year: workforce development, tax reform for startups, and affordable industrial space.
To ensure the coalition represents companies with proven traction and a serious commitment to the region, membership is strictly limited to the largest start-up organizations with an active, physical presence in New Mexico.
The founding members represent some of the state’s most significant recent economic development triumphs:
“Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has laid a fantastic foundation with her consistent support for advanced energy and tech startups,” said Matt Pahl, Spokesperson for the Next New Mexico Economy Project. “Now is the time to capitalize on that momentum. This project gives our state’s fastest-growing companies a unified voice to ensure New Mexico remains a premier destination for innovation.”

At its inaugural meeting, the coalition outlined plans to serve as a brain trust for state leadership, offering industry expertise to help modernize state policies, streamline regulatory pathways, and attract further venture-backed investment.
Business leaders across the state have already signaled strong support for the initiative.
“The business community fully supports the launch of the Next New Mexico Economy Project,” said Rob Black, New Mexico Economic Development Secretary. “We have made tremendous headway in building a robust ecosystem for innovation. Having this caliber of forward-thinking companies actively collaborating on our economic future is exactly what New Mexico needs to stay competitive.”
State Representative Meredith Dixon said, "Diversifying New Mexico’s economy starts with empowering the startups taking big risks on the ground. This coalition represents the next generation of our state’s economic landscape. By bringing their real-world experience to the table, we’re crafting policy solutions that help these companies succeed and build high-paying, future-ready jobs right here at home."
